Narrow 3m Bluefin Tinoo: “[now] we can both lean over the same side and wash our hands!”
“I took the boat out yesterday on Lake Somerset again, and couldn’t wait to tell you how good our little boat is now. My wife said, “it’s a completely different boat altogether.”
“The Bluefin Tinoo’s are a very narrow roof-topper, and are more of an aluminium canoe than a dinghy, but the boat is easy for me to load & unload from the roof by myself, so it suits my purposes. However there was no way my wife and I could be on the same side, so for safety reasons I got the Collars fitted even though I wasn’t 100% convinced they’d work as good as you said they would. But the difference is so amazing, my wife and I can both lean over the same side and wash our hands! Pulling up the crab-pots is so much safer and easier now, as is casting – I don’t rock the boat any more.

3m Bluefin Tinoo (roof-topper), with its Kapten Boat Collar, for the stability it was lacking.
“Just the wake from a passing boat used to almost tip me out, whereas now, they don’t bother me at all. The tinnie slap has also gone, and I don’t bang through the chop anymore. We don’t get wet at all anymore either! The reduction in spray has been fantastic.
“I’m very, very happy. I’ve now got a big boat in a small boat – something I never thought possible. Any boat that rocks ‘n’ rolls should have a Boat Collar fitted. I’ll guarantee it myself. I’m happy to talk to anyone about my experiences, so please pass on my phone number for them to call me – 07) 5495 7483.
“Thank you so very, very much!”
Below: see the fitting of Allan’s Tinoo.
- De-burring the fixing holes from the outside.
- Drilling the holes through the internal plate – after the glue had dried behind the plates
- Moving along the boat and applying the screws to the Collar
- Just waiting on the bow plate to be fitted externally
