You need a little more Collar length than your registered boat length, to allow for the curve in the boat, and the width of the Collar. For most classic shaped boats, 20-25cm more is ample, and provides 5-10cm offcut at the back.
For the smaller boats in this range of length (i.e, 3.3m boats), the offcut will be longer, approx 60cm. This can be used as Transom Foam pieces across the back if desired.
